Grade 2 Prototyping with Cardboard

Second graders have been applying the Engineering and Design Process by taking a look at problems in their classroom. They brainstormed some issues they found like their iPad charging station was messy with so many cords, their desks were disorganized, their water bottles don't fit in the container, and so much more. With all of these problems, students worked in teams to design a solution that could address the issue. Students used cardboard cutting tools to design and test a prototype to solve the problem of messy and disorganized desk spaces.
Students used the Canary corrugated cardboard cutting tool to slice through cardboard.
Students learned how to safely and properly use the Worx ZipSnip cutting tool.

Grade 2 Wire Art

Second graders visited the lab to continue practicing how to use various tools (wrenches, hammers, screwdrivers, pliers, rasps) and many really enjoyed creating wire art!
